About Phoenix Babes Who Walk

We were inspired to start Phoenix Babes Who Walk because we saw our city’s need for community, specifically, a safe, inclusive environment underrepresented individuals could be their authentic selves. The co-founders were all seeking friendships and genuine social interaction, especially after the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in a remote world.

Since we launched in May of 2022, we’ve hosted 100+ walks and events, reaching hundreds of thousands of babes, online and in-person.

Meet the Founders

  • Hope Word

    OPERATIONS MANAGER

Hope is the Operations Manager and joined in May of 2022 to make friends after moving from Austin, TX, with her husband and 2 pups. When she’s not doing behind the scenes work for Phoenix Babes, she works in people and business operations, and is studying to get her MBA at the University of Arizona. You can catch her at almost every walk if you want to talk about partnerships, events, or just say hello!

  • Deysia Chase

    WALK LOGISTICS MANAGER

Deysia is the Walk Logistics Manager and has been a loyal Phoenix Babe since May 2022. She has been coordinating our walks since our first walk with only 12 people. She has been to almost every walk since then! You can catch her leading the walks, giving announcements and yelling “BIKE!!!”. She moved to Arizona from Milwaukee, WI after graduating from UW-Madison in 2021. In her free time she loves to go out to eat, hike, go on walks (of course!), take naps and go to the movies. Never hesitate to say hello!

  • Grace Juliet

    BRAND MANAGER

Grace is the Brand Manager and has been a part of Phoenix Babes Who Walk since May of 2022. She joined because she loved the caring atmosphere at the walks and wanted to be apart of the project. She loves the result of giving back, and combining it with art. She is currently getting her bachelors degree in Nonprofit Leadership and Management at ASU and when she’s not running around with her camera capturing babes first walks she is found with her horse Romeo, or with her band “dear dorrit”.
